Setup Wizard
The Setup Wizard (MC Warehouse Client Setup) guides you through the initial configuration of the Warehouse Client in 7 steps. You reach it via Assisted Setup in Business Central:
Search (Alt+Q) → Assisted Setup → group "AD merchantCENTRAL – Setup"
→ merchantCENTRAL: Set up Warehouse Client.
Set up the Hub first
When opening, the wizard uses the Platform Guard to check whether the merchantCENTRAL Hub is already set up. If it is not, you are directed to the Hub setup. So set up the Hub first.
Prerequisites
- [ ] merchantCENTRAL Hub set up
- [ ] License or demo for the
WAREHOUSEmodule available - [ ] (Optional) Entra ID app registration (Client ID) ready for QR provisioning
Step 1 – Welcome
Overview and prerequisites. The wizard lists what should be in place:
- The merchantCENTRAL Hub is set up.
- A license or demo for the Warehouse module is available.
- The Entra ID app registration for the MAUI client (optional, for QR provisioning).
Click Next to continue.
Step 2 – License
Shows the current License Status of the WAREHOUSE module:
| Status | Meaning |
|---|---|
| Active | Valid license present – module can be enabled |
| Demo | Demo running – full feature scope for 30 days |
| other | No license/demo – module is not enabled on completion |
If neither a license nor a demo is present, the Register Demo action appears. With it you start a free 30-day demo. Details: Start a free demo.
Sandbox is always free
In a BC sandbox, use without a license is possible. The license/demo check applies in the production system. See Licensing & Modules.
Step 3 – General
Controls automatic shipment assignment and the lock logic:
| Field | Recommendation | Meaning |
|---|---|---|
| Auto-Assign Enabled | On | After completing a shipment, the next one is automatically assigned to the terminal |
| Assignment Priority | FIFO | Order of assignment: FIFO (creation date), Shipping Deadline (urgent first), or Marketplace Priority |
| Lock Timeout (Seconds) | 300 | Seconds after which a document lock automatically expires (default 5 min.) |
| Terminal Idle Minutes | 5 | Minutes without activity after which a terminal is considered "idle" in the dashboard |
Step 4 – Modules
Enable the globally available modules. This default applies to all terminals and can be overridden per terminal (Terminals).
Available modules: Goods Receipt, Goods Issue, Pick List, Item Lookup, Warehouse Activity, Putaway, Complaint, Return, Label Print, Item Weighing, Photo.
Only what is needed
Enable only modules that are actually used in operation – every disabled tile disappears from the app's main menu and keeps the interface tidy.
Step 5 – Scanning & Integration
Scanning:
| Field | Meaning |
|---|---|
| Require Serial No. Scan | Serial numbers must be scanned individually during goods issue |
| Require Weight Entry | A weight (scale or manual) must be captured before the shipping label |
| Scan Log Enabled | All barcode scans are logged for audit/analysis |
Shipping integration:
| Field | Meaning |
|---|---|
| Default Shipment Provider | Default shipment provider (DHL, DPD, GLS …) for label creation |
| Default Shipment Service | Default shipping product (e.g., CL, STANDARD) |
| Auto-Create Shipment Label | After posting a shipment, a shipping label is created automatically |
Shipment connector required
For label creation, the matching shipment connector must be installed and set up (e.g., DHL).
Step 6 – Warehouse Client (MAUI)
Behavior of the device app and authentication:
| Field | Meaning |
|---|---|
| Entra Client ID (MAUI App) | Client ID of the Entra ID app registration for the OAuth2 login. Required for QR provisioning. |
| Require User Login | Users log in individually (recommended). Off = a single default service user is used. |
| Settings PIN | 4-digit PIN that protects access to the settings in the app. Change via click. Empty/0000 = no PIN protection. |
| Startup Module | Module that opens automatically on app startup. Empty = module selection (main menu). |
Via the Download Client App action you open the download page with the Windows and Android installers. See also Client Installation & Updates.
Store the PIN securely
The Settings PIN prevents warehouse staff from changing the device configuration. Assign a PIN and communicate it only to administrators.
Step 7 – Completion
A summary shows the license status, the number of active modules, and the configured shipment provider. With Finish, the settings are saved. If the module is licensed or a demo is running, the Warehouse Client is enabled automatically.
Not licensed?
If you complete without a license/demo, the settings are saved, but the module remains inactive. Register a demo or license and then enable the module on the setup card.
