Goods Issue

With the Goods Issue module (tile Warenausgang), you check or pack shipments, capture the weight, create the shipping label and print the delivery note – all at the packing station.

Prerequisite: Module Goods Issue enabled. The badge on the tile shows the number of shipments ready to ship for the terminal.

Operating mode: Goods Issue Mode

The Goods Issue Mode (Setup) determines where Goods Issue sources its work and what is posted when shipping. The on-device flow is nearly identical in all three modes.

Posted Shipments A shipment already posted by the office (not yet printed, from the last 90 days). You check every line completely by scan. Creates the shipping label. Nothing is posted – the shipment is already posted.
Sales Orders A released sales order with an outstanding quantity. Partial quantities are allowed – one scanned unit is enough. Posts only the scanned quantities as a shipment (no invoice), then creates the label. Unscanned quantities stay open.
Inventory Picks An inventory pick already picked in the Warehouse Activity module. You confirm the picked quantities exactly. Creates the label from the order and only then posts the inventory pick (and with it the shipment).

Inventory Picks requires BC warehouse management

The Inventory Picks mode is only possible with the Warehouse Mode BC Warehouse Picks (with WMS). If the label fails there (e.g. an address error at the carrier), nothing is posted – correct the address in the sales order and ship again.

Workflow

  1. Tap Nächste (F5) (next) – the app loads the next shipment or order for your terminal.
  2. Scan items – the app checks item and quantity and shows the progress (Gescannt / Soll – scanned / target). Recognized are item number, GTIN/EAN and item reference.
  3. Serial numbers – if Require Serial No. Scan is active, the app asks for each number of a serial-tracked item in the Seriennummer (serial number) dialog; confirm with Prüfen (check). The app rejects duplicate or non-matching numbers.
  4. Packaging (optional) – scan the carton's barcode. The app recognizes the active packaging materials maintained in the merchantCENTRAL Hub and shows dimensions and tare.
  5. Weight – the app continuously calculates the shipping weight from the gross weights of the scanned items plus the packaging tare. Gewicht (weight) takes the value from the scale instead. If items plus tare exceed the packaging's maximum weight, shipping is blocked – scan a larger packaging material. If the terminal requires a weight (Require Weight Entry) and it is still 0, the app shows „Gewicht erforderlich" (weight required) and shipping stays blocked – read the weight from the scale with Gewicht.
  6. Tap ✓ Versenden (ship). The button becomes active once all lines are scanned – in Sales Orders mode from the first scanned unit.
  7. Label & delivery note are printed automatically depending on the setting (see below).

Further buttons:

  • Freigeben (release) – hands the shipment or order back without shipping (e.g. when something is missing). Other terminals can then process it.
  • Etikett erneut drucken (reprint label) – after shipping, if the label got lost or printing failed.

Existing package label

If a posted shipment already has a package label, the app uses it. If it comes from a different shipping agent than the document's, the app points this out explicitly – to get a new label, cancel the existing one in Business Central.

Packing mode (multiple packages)

If Multi-Package Enabled is set (Setup or terminal), you split a shipment across several parcels – only in Posted Shipments mode:

  1. Tap Packmodus (packing mode).
  2. Scan a packaging material – this opens a new package. Without packaging: Neues Packstück (ohne Packmittel) (new package without packaging).
  3. Scan the items of this parcel (progress Gepackt / Soll – packed / target).
  4. Packstück abschließen (close package) – requires at least one item and a weight.
  5. Repeat for the remaining parcels until everything is packed.
  6. 🏷 Paketscheine erzeugen (create package labels) – a separate label is created and printed for each package.

Shipping Label & Delivery Note

  • The shipping label is created via the shipping agent's shipment connector (DHL, DPD, GLS, UPS …). The app waits briefly for the label and prints it according to its format: ZPL to the label printer, PDF to the A4 printer (Windows only).
  • The delivery note is output as a PDF on the A4 printer – Windows only, to go into the parcel. Which report is printed is determined by the BC report selections (Report Selection – Sales, usage Shipment).

Whether printing is automatic is controlled by Auto Print Label / Auto Print Delivery Note on the terminal card; it can be overridden locally in the app settings.

Which shipping agent prints the label?

The document's shipping agent takes precedence. If no active merchantCENTRAL shipment provider belongs to it, label creation fails – the app does not silently fall back to a different provider. Only if the document has no shipping agent does the terminal's default apply, then the global default (Setup), and finally the only active shipment provider.

Label not printing?

Check the printer in the Settings (ZPL-Verbindung testen – test ZPL connection) and reprint with Etikett erneut drucken. If the carrier could not create a label (e.g. address error), the app states the reason.

Which documents does a terminal see?

Basically only documents of its location. In Posted Shipments and Sales Orders modes, the terminal's allowed shipping agents filter in addition; documents without a shipping agent are seen by every terminal. In Inventory Picks mode only the location applies.

If Nächste (F5) finds nothing, there is no matching work for the terminal. In Sales Orders mode the app then states how many orders do not match because of the filter.
