Setup

The guided setup gets the merchantCENTRAL platform ready in a few minutes. The wizard walks you through every base setting step by step. Every setting can be changed later on the Setup card (reference).

In-context help (F1)

On every page in Business Central, F1 opens the matching help article. The teaching tip (lightbulb icon) on a page also shows a short explanation right inside the system.

Open the wizard

  • Via Assisted Setup: search for Assisted Setup → group AD merchantCENTRAL - SetupmerchantCENTRAL Setup
  • Or from the Setup card or Dashboard via the Setup Wizard action

The steps at a glance

1 · Welcome

A short overview of what the wizard configures. No input is required here.

2 · License

merchantCENTRAL is licensed per module and tenant - there is no license key. Each connector module automatically starts a free 30-day demo the first time you use it.

  • License Overview shows the status of every module and starts a demo or subscription per module.
  • Refresh License re-validates with the licensing server.

3 · Item creation (defaults)

Only required if items should be created automatically from supplier data. Item Creation Enabled unlocks the remaining fields:

  • Item No. Series Mode - Central (one number series) or Per Manufacturer
  • Default posting groups (product, VAT, inventory) and base unit - mandatory when item creation is enabled
  • Auto-Match by GTIN/MPN - automatically matches imported supplier data to existing items

4 · Inventory defaults

  • Inventory Calculation Method and Default Stock Source (own stock, supplier only, or combined)
  • Global Safety Stock and cross-channel deduction to prevent overselling

5 · Shipping & email (defaults)

  • Default shipment provider and service for label creation
  • Packaging materials for automatic dimensions/weight defaults
  • Enable email notifications globally and set the default recipient

6 · Azure Storage (optional)

Only needed if suppliers deliver files via Azure Blob Storage or if product images are published via a CDN. Requires an Entra ID app registration (tenant ID, client ID, client secret). You can skip this and set it up later. Use Test Blob Connection or Test Media Storage to verify the connection.

7 · Finish

Summary and recommended next steps. Finish marks the setup as completed.

Next steps

  1. Install the connector apps you need (Amazon, Conrad, DHL …).
  2. Run each connector's setup wizard (Assisted Setup).
  3. Open the Dashboard to import orders and manage items.
