Category Margins

The default margin of the price list is the starting point — differentiation happens through the category margins. Each line overrides margin, minimum margins, rounding, and list price cap for a slice of the assortment. Open the list by searching for Category Margins or from the Price Calculation Setup.

The hierarchy: the most specific line wins

Level Key Example
1 (highest) Item item 1000 always at 15 %
2 Vendor + category accessories from vendor 70000 at 35 %
3 Vendor everything from vendor 70000 at 22 %
4 Category item category ACCESSORY at 40 %
(no line) default margin of the price list

Three lines, done

You run a 30 % default margin, but printers (category) at only 12 % — and the consumables of your main vendor (vendor + category) at 45 %. Three lines model that; everything else follows the default margin.

Fields per line

Field Meaning
Price List Code The list the override applies to
Item Category / Vendor / Item The key — filled depending on the level
Margin % Overrides the default margin (0 = default stays)
Min. Margin % / Min. Margin Amount Override the floors (0 = default stays)
Rounding Method Overrides the rounding (empty = default stays)
Use List Price as Max Switch the list price cap on or off per slice

Empty or zero fields of a line fall back to the price list values — you only ever override what you enter. Which margin was actually applied is shown by the price explanation.
