DPD Austria Shipping Connector

The merchantCENTRAL Shipment DPD AT connector links Microsoft Dynamics 365 Business Central directly to the DPD Austria WEB.Service (Gebrueder Weiss Paketdienst). Create shipping labels, return labels, and the daily self-booking list right from Business Central — no WEB.omat, no duplicate data entry.

What Can the DPD Austria Connector Do?

Feature Description
Shipping Labels Labels for DPD and primetime products straight from the sales order, with automatic product selection by weight
Return Labels Return labels for drop-off at a Pickup PaketShop — optionally with a digital 2D code
Genuine Cancellation Cancellation at the DPD AT system — a label only counts as cancelled once DPD AT confirms it
Reprint Retrieve any label again as an official COPY document
Collective Print Print several labels as one document — A4 with 4 labels per page, A6, or ZPL
Self-Booking List Retrieve and archive the manifest for the parcel handover, optionally performing the day closing
Pickup Requests Order one-time pickups at your own site
Collection Requests Have parcels collected at any address and delivered to another address
PDF & ZPL Labels as PDF (laser printers) or ZPL (Zebra thermal printers), in 203 or 300 dpi

Good to know: what the WEB.Service does not offer

The DPD AT WEB.Service provides no tracking API — the connector therefore stores a configurable tracking link per label for your recipients, but there is no automatic status polling in Business Central. Customs functions are not part of the WEB.Service (EU delivery area). Multi-parcel shipments (multi-colli) and PaketShop delivery (2S) will follow in a later version.

Quick Start in 5 Steps

Step 1: Have Your Credentials Ready

You need three values from the DPD AT IT-Kundenberatung:

  • Username (9 digits, e.g. 621XXXXXX)
  • Mandant (client number, usually 1)
  • MD5 password (32 hexadecimal characters)

Where do I get credentials?

Credentials are issued by the IT-Kundenberatung department of Gebrueder Weiss Paketdienst GmbH: it-kundenberatung@gwp.dpd.at, phone +43 5 7877 777 (Mon–Fri 8:00–18:00). DPD AT already delivers the password as an MD5 value — your plaintext password is not needed by the interface and is never stored.

No credentials yet? Start immediately with the test account

The connector ships with the public DPD AT test account: simply enable Use Test Account in the setup wizard — all fields are filled in automatically and you can create test labels right away. Use fictional recipient data only.

Step 2: Run the Setup Wizard

  1. Open search (++alt+q++) and open Assisted Setup
  2. Start merchantCENTRAL: Set up DPD Austria
  3. Follow the six steps — details under Initial Setup

Step 3: Test the Connection

In the wizard (or later from the dashboard) click Test Connection. On success you see the DPD AT service status list, e.g. "WEB.Service: Im Betrieb" (operational).

Step 4: Activate the Provider

Open Shipment Providers in the merchantCENTRAL hub, select DPDAT, and activate the provider. A free demo license can be started directly from the provider card.

Step 5: Create Your First Label

  1. Open a sales order with an Austrian ship-to address
  2. Run Create Label and pick DPD Austria
  3. The label is stored as a PDF and can be printed immediately
