Amazon Shipment Confirmations

This page is the queue and the log of the shipment confirmations to Amazon. For every posted shipment of an Amazon order you see whether the confirmation is still waiting for its tracking number, was sent, was confirmed by Amazon or failed – and why.

Opening the Page

  • Via search: Amazon Shipment Confirmations
  • Via the Amazon Dashboard → Navigate → Shipment Confirmations; the Failed shipment confirmations and Shipment confirmations open after 24 hours lines under Waiting for you open the affected shipments.
  • Via the hub monitor: the lines Amazon shipment confirmations that failed and Amazon shipments not confirmed after 24 hours open the page with the affected shipments.

How the confirmation gets to Amazon

With Confirm Shipments Automatically in the Amazon Settings, the shipment confirmation runs without any manual step:

  1. Posting queues the shipment. When you post the shipment of an order you ship yourself (MFN), a line with status Pending is created here. The posting itself does not call Amazon.
  2. The job sends. The SHIPMENT_CONFIRM job (every 15 minutes) sends the lines that are due: a shipment with a tracking number right away, one without only after Wait for Tracking (Hours). One feed with all due shipments goes out per marketplace on which the orders were placed. If a marketplace has no marketplace participation with a Marketplace ID, nothing goes out for it: its lines become Error with the error Marketplace not set up.
  3. Amazon replies. After sending, the line is Sent. Once Amazon has processed the feed and its processing report has been read, it becomes Confirmed – or Error with Amazon's reason. If there is no readable report two hours after processing, the feed counts as not processed, and the line becomes Error.
  4. The tracking number follows. If a shipment was confirmed without a tracking number and the number arrives later, the connector queues the shipment again and sends the confirmation a second time, with the number.

The tracking numbers come from the hub's shipping labels (e.g. from the DHL or GLS connector), otherwise from the Package Tracking No. field of the posted shipment. The connector recognizes the carrier by the carrier's code or name (DHL, Deutsche Post, DPD, GLS, Hermes, UPS, FedEx, TNT); other carriers go to Amazon with their name, shipments without a carrier as Other.

Fields

Field Description
Shipment No. Posted sales shipment that is reported to Amazon.
Order No. Sales order from which the shipment was posted.
Amazon Order ID Amazon order the shipment belongs to.
Status State of the confirmation, highlighted in color (see below).
With Tracking The confirmation included a tracking number. A confirmation sent without a number is sent again as soon as the number arrives.
Queued At When the shipment was queued for confirmation.
Sent At When the confirmation went to Amazon.
Attempts How often sending has failed. The job tries again until the limit of 3 attempts is reached.
Error Message Why the confirmation could not be sent, or what Amazon reported back.
Feed ID Amazon feed that carried the confirmation (hidden by default).

Status

Status Meaning
Pending (yellow) Waiting for the next run of the job, or still waiting for the tracking number.
Sent Sent to Amazon; Amazon's reply is still pending. Confirmations sent by hand also have this status.
Confirmed (green) Amazon has processed the confirmation.
Error (red) Sending failed or Amazon rejected the confirmation; the reason is in Error Message.
Not Required Amazon ships the order itself (FBA). There is nothing to confirm.

Actions

Action Description
Retry Queues the selected failed or waiting confirmations again, with fresh attempts. The next run of the job sends them – without waiting for a tracking number again.
Send Now After you confirm, sends all confirmations that are due now without waiting for the job queue – not only the selected ones. A shipment that is still waiting for its tracking number stays queued. The result follows as soon as Amazon has processed the feeds. Send Shipment Confirmations on the Amazon Dashboard does the same.
Posted Shipment Opens the posted sales shipment of the line.

Tips

Failed confirmations

After 3 failed attempts, the job no longer sends a confirmation by itself. A confirmation that Amazon rejected is not retried at all – the same data would fail again. Both stay at Error; the hub monitor shows them under Amazon shipment confirmations that failed, and the hub's error notification reports them once by email. Fix the cause and choose Retry. What happened during sending is also recorded in the Amazon Activity Log; the retention job deletes its entries after 90 days.

Not confirmed after 24 hours

Shipments that are still Pending or Sent 24 hours after being queued are shown by the hub monitor under Amazon shipments not confirmed after 24 hours. In that case, check whether the SHIPMENT_CONFIRM job and the feed processor (FEED_PROCESS) are running.

Without automatic confirmation

If Confirm Shipments Automatically is turned off, posting does not queue any shipment; Send Now and Send Shipment Confirmations on the Amazon Dashboard only send what is already queued here. In that case, send the confirmations by hand: Send Shipment to Amazon on the posted sales shipment or Send Selected Shipments to Amazon in the list of posted sales shipments – for several shipments, select them there. These confirmations also appear on this page.

Only shipments of Amazon orders

When sending by hand, only shipments whose order was imported from Amazon go to Amazon. Send Shipment to Amazon on the card and in the list rejects any other shipment with the message Not an Amazon shipment before anything is sent; report such a shipment in the sales channel the order came from. Send Selected Shipments to Amazon skips such shipments and counts them as Skipped (not an Amazon order). An External Document No. alone is not enough: in another sales channel, it is that channel's customer reference.
