Amazon Carrier Mapping
Amazon needs the carrier that transports the parcel for every shipment confirmation. On this page, you map a Business Central shipping agent to the Amazon carrier – needed only where the code and name of the shipping agent do not reveal the carrier.
Opening the Page
- Via search: Amazon Carrier Mapping
- Via the Amazon settings on the marketplace card → action Lists → Carrier Mapping
- Via the Amazon Dashboard → Related → Advanced → Carrier Mapping
- Via the Amazon Shipment Confirmations → Carrier Mapping, or via the Open Amazon Carrier Mapping button of the error message when a shipment confirmation cannot be sent by hand
How the Carrier of a Shipment Confirmation Is Determined
Every shipment confirmation reports exactly one posted shipment. Its carrier comes from the shipping agent of this shipment: the Shipping Agent Code of the posted sales shipment, otherwise the shipping agent merchantCENTRAL registered a tracking number of this shipment with – for example the supplier's report for a drop shipment.

OnBeforeMapShippingAgentToCarrier(codeunit ALN MCA Carrier Mapping Mgt.) decides before anything else. - Mapping on this page, if there is a line with an Amazon Carrier Code for the shipping agent.
- Code, then name of the shipping agent: If the code – or, when the code says nothing, the name – names a carrier Amazon lists, it is recognized: DHL, Deutsche Post, DPD, GLS, Hermes, UPS, FedEx and TNT need no mapping. This way, the DHL connector's shipping agent DHL Parcel DE becomes DHL, and a shipping agent PAKET1 named GLS Germany becomes GLS. The column Without Mapping shows what the result would be without a mapping.
merchantCENTRAL does not guess a carrier – a wrong one would make Amazon track the parcel with another service. If no carrier results, the shipment confirmation is not sent: it stays Pending in the Amazon Shipment Confirmations without using up an attempt, and the Error Message names the shipping agent to map here. The Amazon Activity Log notes it once. The other shipment confirmations go out regardless. After the mapping, the waiting confirmation goes to Amazon on the next run of the SHIPMENT_CONFIRM job.
Carriers Amazon Does Not List
A freight forwarder or a regional parcel service is not on Amazon's list. Map such a shipping agent to the Amazon Carrier Code Other and enter its name in Carrier Name. Amazon then receives the name of the carrier together with the tracking number. Without your mapping, this never happens – not with the name of the shipping agent either.
Fields
| Field | Description |
|---|---|
| Shipping Agent Code | Business Central shipping agent. |
| Shipping Agent Name | Name of the shipping agent. Read-only. |
| Amazon Carrier Code | Carrier under which Amazon knows the shipping agent: DHL, Deutsche Post, DPD, GLS, Hermes, UPS, FedEx, TNT or Other. The lookup shows the list; any other code is refused because Amazon would reject the shipment confirmation for it. The connector adjusts the spelling (dhl becomes DHL). |
| Carrier Name | Name of a carrier Amazon does not list. Applies only with the Amazon Carrier Code Other; if you enter the name without a code, the connector sets Other. With another carrier code, the field stays empty. |
| Without Mapping | Carrier the shipping agent would get from its code or name; empty if neither names a carrier Amazon lists. Read-only. |
Tips
Check first, then map
Create a line for the shipping agent and read Without Mapping: if it already shows the right carrier, you do not need the line. A line without an Amazon Carrier Code maps nothing.
Mapping comes before recognition
A line on this page applies even if the shipping agent would be recognized otherwise – for example a shipping agent DHL Express whose parcels UPS transports.
