Amazon FBA Adjustment Reasons
On this page you set which reason code a journal line gets for a movement in Amazon's inventory ledger – per event type and Amazon reason. The item ledger entries of the FBA location then show why the inventory at Amazon changed: misplaced, found, damaged, disposed of, received or sent back. You also set here which reasons count as a reimbursable loss.
Opening the Page
- Via search: Amazon FBA Adjustment Reasons (also Amazon reason codes, FBA reason codes)
- Via the Amazon FBA Ledger Entries → Navigate → FBA Adjustment Reasons
- Via the Amazon FBA Open Losses → Navigate → FBA Adjustment Reasons
FBA only
The page only opens if Enable FBA is turned on in the Amazon Settings.
The Lines
When you open the page, it creates the known lines, with the meaning that Amazon documents for its inventory ledger. You cannot create or delete lines; you only assign reason codes.
| Event Type | Amazon Reason | Description (default) | Reimbursable (default) |
|---|---|---|---|
| Receipt | (blank) | Received by Amazon | no |
| Removal | (blank) | Removed by Amazon (sent back or disposed of) – for a removal without a known removal order | no |
| Removal | RETURN | Sent back to you by a removal order | no |
| Removal | DISPOSAL | Disposed of by a removal order | no |
| Removal | LIQUIDATE | Liquidated by a removal order | no |
| Adjustment | M, 5 | Misplaced at the fulfillment center | yes |
| Adjustment | F | Found at the fulfillment center | no |
| Adjustment | N | Found after a transfer or reimbursement | no |
| Adjustment | D | Disposed of | no |
| Adjustment | O | Inventory correction | no |
| Adjustment | Q | Condition changed (out of the old condition) | no |
| Adjustment | P | Condition changed (into the new condition) | no |
| Adjustment | 3 | Product redefinition (transferred in) | no |
| Adjustment | 4 | Product redefinition (transferred out) | no |
| Adjustment | 6, 7, E | Damaged at the fulfillment center | yes |
| Adjustment | H, K, U | Damaged or defective, not by Amazon | no |
If Amazon uses a reason code that this list does not know yet, Suggest FBA Adjustments creates a line without a description; it then appears here for you to assign.
For removals, the Amazon reason is the type of the removal order (see Amazon FBA Removal Orders). Units sent back get an adjustment line with the reason RETURN only if no FBA Removal Location Code is set up; otherwise they travel on a transfer order. Likewise, receipts from your FBA shipments get no adjustment line; they are received on the transfer order of the shipment.
Fields
| Field | Description |
|---|---|
| Event Type | Type of movement in Amazon's inventory ledger: Adjustment, Receipt or Removal. Cannot be changed. |
| Amazon Reason | Amazon's reason code of an adjustment; for removals, the type of the removal order (RETURN, DISPOSAL or LIQUIDATE); blank for receipts. Cannot be changed. |
| Description | What the Amazon reason means. The suggestion writes it into the description of the journal line, e.g. Amazon Adjustment: Misplaced at the fulfillment center (date). A description of your own is kept. |
| Reason Code | Reason code of the item journal lines for this movement. Leave it blank to post without a reason code. |
| Reimbursable | Amazon owes a reimbursement for units that it removes with this reason – lost or damaged in the warehouse. Such losses are listed on the Amazon FBA Open Losses page until Amazon reimburses them or finds the units again. A setting you have changed is kept. |
Tips
Creating reason codes
You create reason codes in Business Central on the Reason Codes page, for example FBA-LOST, FBA-FOUND, FBA-DAMAGE, FBA-REMOVE. Several Amazon reasons may share the same reason code. The remaining difference that no movement at Amazon explains gets the FBA Reconciliation Reason Code from the Amazon Settings.
Condition changes
Q and P come in pairs: Amazon moves units out of the old condition and into the new one. With an FBA Unsellable Location Code, this becomes an outbound movement on one location and an inbound movement on the other; without it, the two lines cancel each other out on the FBA location.
