eBay Listings

The eBay Listings page shows the listings your eBay accounts have on eBay. It is meant above all for listings that already exist on eBay but that Business Central has not yet linked to an item — for example because they were created before the connector was introduced. You assign such listings to a Business Central item by hand here.

Business Central stays leading: the connector creates nothing automatically and matches nothing by item number or EAN. You decide which listing belongs to which item.

Open the page

  • Via the eBay dashboard → eBay Listings
  • Via the eBay dashboard → Refresh eBay Listings — the list opens after reading
  • Via the Unassigned eBay Listings cue of the activities
  • Via search: eBay Listings

The list opens on the unassigned listings.

How listings get into the list

Refresh eBay Listings (dashboard) or Refresh from eBay (in the list) reads all inventory items and their offers per active eBay account. Every fixed-price offer on an active marketplace of the account becomes one row — one per account, country and eBay SKU.

  • Listings that already belong to a marketplace item: If a marketplace item of the same sales channel carries the eBay SKU, the row is assigned to it right away. The marketplace item only receives the offer ID, listing ID and online status; title, product data, price and quantity stay as Business Central has them.
  • All other listings are shown as Unassigned until you assign or ignore them.
  • Gone on eBay: If the run no longer finds a listing, the row is flagged Gone on eBay — but only when the account was read completely. A run that broke off flags nothing.

Refreshing changes nothing on eBay. It runs in sections: the state is saved after every account and every 100 SKUs. For large accounts it can take a while, but a run that breaks off does not lose what it has read so far. Only Gone on eBay is not set in that run for an account that was not read completely. A result message shows the inventory items read, the new listings to assign, the marketplace items updated and the listings no longer on eBay.

The job queue entry eBay: Refresh eBay Listings runs the same refresh regularly (automation).

Only listings of the Inventory API

Listings created in Seller Hub or with the Trading API are not part of the eBay Inventory API. The connector does not read them; they do not appear here and cannot be assigned. Auctions are not read either — fixed-price listings only.

Fields

Assignment Note Why the listing cannot be assigned (red) — filled when the same eBay SKU is already assigned to an item in another sales channel (country) of the same eBay account (details).
Item No. / Variant Code / Item Description The Business Central item the listing is assigned to.
eBay Group Key Variant group the SKU belongs to on eBay. Listings with variants cannot be assigned yet.

Actions

Action Description
Refresh from eBay Reads the listings of all eBay accounts with an active marketplace again (after a confirmation). Nothing is changed on eBay.
Assign Item... Assigns the selected listing to a Business Central item and creates its eBay marketplace item (details). Only for unassigned listings without a variant group.
Ignore Sets the selected unassigned listings to Ignored — they no longer show among the listings to assign. Nothing changes on eBay.
Undo Ignore Sets ignored listings back to Unassigned.
Download Images Takes the pictures of the listing over from eBay into the pictures of the assigned Business Central item. Pictures the item already has are not added twice. Only for assigned listings.
Open Marketplace Item Opens the eBay item card of the marketplace item the listing is assigned to.

When Ignore or Undo Ignore applies to several rows, the page asks first and then reports how many listings were changed. Assigned listings are left unchanged.

Assigning a listing

Assign Item... opens the Assign eBay Listing dialog. At the top it shows the eBay SKU, Title on eBay and Sales Channel of the listing; below you choose:

Field Description
Item No. The Business Central item the listing belongs to.
Variant Code The variant — empty for an item without variants.
Take Over Title Takes the title from eBay over once as the title of the marketplace item. Otherwise the marketplace item starts with the item description, like any new one. The item itself is never changed.

With OK the listing becomes the eBay marketplace item of this item in the sales channel of the listing:

  • Taken over are the eBay SKU (unchanged — eBay knows the listing by it), offer ID and listing ID, the online status, the category and the condition. All other fields of the marketplace item start with the values from Business Central, as for a newly added item.
  • Only the quantity is synced afterwards: the marketplace item is flagged for the next inventory sync.
  • Price and content (title, description, product data) are not sent to eBay on their own. They are transferred only when you deliberately flag the marketplace item for it — with Mark for Sync on the item card or the flags Update Item or Update Price — or when they change in Business Central. That way an assignment never overwrites a live listing.
  • Fulfillment policy and handling time: The handling time of the live offer is kept for the time being. If the offer runs on one of the connector's handling time policies, the assignment takes over that policy together with its days — the first inventory sync then leaves the offer there as long as the promise matches. If it runs on the marketplace's default fulfillment policy or on a policy of the seller's own, nothing is taken over. If Use Handling Time is active on the sales channel, the first inventory sync moves an offer with a policy of its own to the matching handling time policy — as for any other item of the channel.
  • Pictures come over only with Download Images.

The assignment is refused when

  • the item or variant does not exist,
  • the item is already listed in the sales channel — an item has one listing per eBay country,
  • another marketplace item of the same eBay account already carries the SKU — in another country as well (in that case the Assignment Note already states the reason),
  • the listing belongs to a variant group — variant listings cannot be assigned yet; add the item with its variants through merchantCENTRAL instead,
  • the marketplace of the listing no longer exists.

The message states the reason and what to do; the dialog stays open so you can correct the item.

SKU used in several countries before the changeover

Earlier versions of the connector used the same SKU for a second country as for the first. On eBay there is then one inventory item with offers in several countries — and therefore several rows with the same eBay SKU in this list. Since eBay does not allow the same SKU in several countries and every country needs a marketplace item with an SKU of its own, such an SKU can be assigned once only. Once it is assigned in one country, the rows of the other countries show the reason in the Assignment Note field (red); an assignment stops with the same message.

End the other listings on eBay or ignore them. The same SKU in another eBay account is no conflict — to eBay that is a different seller. For those countries, add the item again through merchantCENTRAL afterwards; it then gets an SKU of its own per country (see eBay SKU per country).

Tips

After the assignment

Check title, category, condition and price on the item card before you deliberately send content and price to eBay. Until then the connector syncs only the quantity.

Stock in several countries

Every country reports the full available quantity. If you assign the same item to listings in several countries, limit the quantity with Quantity Percentage or Safety Stock on the marketplace item — see stock per country.
