eBay consent: authorization code
After your consent, eBay sends the browser back to this page and adds the authorization code to the address. With this code the eBay Connector in Business Central obtains lasting access to your seller account.
Authorization code received
Copy the code and paste it into Business Central under Enter Authorization Code.
eBay refused the consent
Instead of a code, eBay returned an error:
Check the client ID, client secret, RuName and environment in Business Central - they all have to belong to the same eBay keyset. Then request the consent again.
eBay opens this page
You do not open it yourself: eBay sends you here after the consent, and the code then appears in this place. If you see this note right after a consent, eBay sent no code - check the accept URL of your RuName (see below).
What to do next
- Copy the code - or the full address from the address bar; the connector finds the code in it itself.
- In Business Central, on the eBay account (or in the setup wizard), choose Enter Authorization Code.
- Paste the code or the address and confirm. The connector exchanges the code for a refresh token and stores it. From then on the account signs in to eBay by itself - you only need a new consent when you revoke it at eBay or the token expires (about 18 months).
The code is valid only briefly
An authorization code is valid for about five minutes and can be used only once. Once
it has expired, eBay answers invalid_grant - simply request the consent again in Business
Central.
Enter this address in the RuName
For eBay to send you back here, enter it for the RuName in the eBay Developer Portal under User Tokens → Get a Token from eBay via Your Application:
| Field in the Developer Portal | Value |
|---|---|
| Your auth accepted URL | https://help.merchantcentral.de/ebay/consent/ |
| Your auth declined URL | https://help.merchantcentral.de/ebay/consent/ |
| OAuth Enabled | set |
The address has to be exactly this, with the trailing slash: any redirect drops the code. The same address works for sandbox and production - only the RuName and the keyset differ per environment.
Privacy
This page reads the code from the address in your browser only; it neither stores it nor sends it anywhere. Like any web page, though, the web server receives the requested address, code included. On its own the code is worthless - it cannot be redeemed without the client secret of your keyset, and it expires after a few minutes.
If the code should not leave your own infrastructure at all, set up the consent page in your own Azure subscription: Set up Consent Page on the eBay account, or the guide in the download area. Then enter its address in the RuName.
