With the Demo Registration Wizard, you can activate a free 30-day trial license for merchantCENTRAL directly in Business Central. All installed connector modules are immediately enabled in demo mode.

Prerequisites

  • The merchantCENTRAL Setup page must be configured (License Service URL and Function Key)
  • No License Key must be configured yet (the action is only visible without an existing key)

Starting the Wizard

Step 1: Welcome

The first page explains what you get with the demo:

  • Full access to all installed connector modules for 30 days
  • No credit card required
  • No obligation β€” the demo ends automatically
  • Automatic license activation β€” no manual key entry needed
  • Easy upgrade to a production license when you're ready

Click Next to continue.

Step 2: Company Data

In this step, you enter your company information. Some fields are automatically pre-filled from the Business Central Company Information.

Required Fields

Field Description
Company Name Your company name
Contact Person First and last name of the contact person
Email Business email address for license notifications
Country/Region Code Your country code (e.g., DE, AT, CH)

Optional Fields

Street Street and house number
Post Code Postal code
City City/Town
VAT Registration No. VAT identification number
Website Company website

Automatic pre-fill

The wizard attempts to pre-fill the fields from the Business Central Company Information (company name, address, phone, email, etc.). Review the data and adjust as needed.

Click Next to continue.

Before registration, you must consent to the processing of your data.

What is transferred?

Your company data is transmitted to ALTENBRAND Datentechnik GmbH and used exclusively for the following purposes:

  • License management β€” Creation and management of your trial license
  • Billing β€” Preparation for a later production license
  • Support β€” Contact in case of questions or issues during the trial period

Check the checkbox:

Required field

Consent is required for registration. Without consent, no demo license can be created.

Click Start Demo to complete the registration.

Step 4: Result

On successful registration

The wizard displays:

What happens now

  • The License Key has been automatically stored encrypted
  • An immediate license validation has been triggered
  • All installed connector modules are now usable in demo mode
  • You can close the wizard and start working with merchantCENTRAL right away

On failed registration

If the registration was not successful, an error message is displayed. Common causes:

Already registered A license already exists for this tenant β†’ open License Setup

What Happens After the Demo?

During the 30 Days

  • All installed modules work without restrictions
  • In the Dashboard and License Overview you can see the remaining days
  • 5 days before expiry you will receive notices in the system

After Demo Expiry

  • Modules switch to the Expired status
  • 7-day Grace Period β€” you have one more week to upgrade to a production license
  • After the Grace Period, modules are suspended
  • Your data (orders, items, setup) remains fully preserved

Upgrade to Production

Contact your ALTENBRAND sales representative to upgrade to a production license. In this process:

  • Your existing License Key is retained
  • The desired modules are switched to Active
  • Monthly billing begins
