Attributes for Kaufland

Kaufland requires its own details per category – screen size for TVs, material for furniture, storage capacity for memory cards. Business Central sends them from the item attributes, the same source as for all other marketplaces. The Kaufland app supplies the categories, attributes, and value lists for this; mapping, checking, and values are handled by merchantCENTRAL (merchantCENTRAL help, Marketplaces → Attributes).

Setting Up in Five Steps

  1. Import Categories – in the Kaufland Categories, once per storefront.
  2. Import the attributes of the categories you sell in – action Import Attributes in the Kaufland Categories or on the category card. Value lists (colors, materials …) come along.
  3. Category Mapping on the Kaufland Marketplace Card: map your item categories to the Kaufland categories. Subcategories inherit the mapping.
  4. Attribute Mappings on the Marketplace Card: Get Marketplace Attributes reads all imported Kaufland attributes, Suggest Mappings finds matching item attributes, and you approve the right ones.
  5. Check the attributes in the Kaufland Products list or on the product card: the FactBox Attributes shows per product what is sent and what is missing.

Which Category Applies

The Kaufland category of a product is in the field Category ID of the product card:

  • Entered by hand or taken over from the Kaufland catalog by Lookup on Kaufland, it is the product's own category.
  • If the field is empty, the category to which the item's item category is mapped applies.
  • A marketplace category chosen in merchantCENTRAL becomes the Category ID and vice versa – both fields always show the same.

What Happens on Upload

Upload Product Data first checks the attributes in the language of the storefront:

  • Mandatory attribute missing – nothing is sent. The last error message names the attributes; the list of attribute issues says what is missing.
  • Optional attribute without a value or mapping – the product goes out without it.
  • Value not in the value list, too long, or without a translation – this value does not go out, the product does (warning).
  • No category – only a warning: Kaufland assigns a product without a category itself.

The values are sent as a list under the Kaufland name of the attribute, in Kaufland's notation – see How Business Central Writes the Values. Title, description, manufacturer, MPN, category, and images still come from the product itself; a mapping does not overwrite them.
