Marketplace Offers

An item can be sold on a marketplace as a single piece and also in packs, such as a 3-pack and a 12-pack. Each pack is a marketplace offer with a unit of measure and an SKU of its own. It belongs to the marketplace item of the single piece – same marketplace, same sales channel, same item, same variant. The marketplace item remains the product and the offer in the sales unit; a connector that does not use offers works as before.

An order for the SKU of a pack becomes a sales line in the pack's unit of measure. Business Central therefore posts the base quantity: 2 × 3-pack = 6 pieces.

Opening the Page

  • On the Marketplace Item Card → Offers: shows the offers of this marketplace item and creates new ones for it.
  • On the Amazon Item Card → Packs.
  • Via search: Marketplace Offers (also multipack, pack): shows all offers, for example to fill them with Edit in Excel.
  • From the error message Item Still Unknown (importing a held order again) → Open Marketplace Offers.

Setting Up a Pack

  1. Create a unit of measure of the item for the pack, e.g. 3PACK with Qty. per Unit of Measure 3. The Item Units of Measure action opens the units of measure of the item.
  2. On this page, create a line with marketplace, sales channel (Sub-Account Code), item, variant and Unit of Measure Code. The item must already be a marketplace item on this marketplace and sales channel.
  3. As soon as you choose the unit of measure, the page suggests an SKU: the SKU of the marketplace item – without one, the item number – with the pack size appended, e.g. HS-L-3. You can overwrite it.
  4. If the pack is to have a bar code of its own, create an item reference of the type Bar Code in the pack's unit of measure on the item; it becomes the EAN of the offer.
  5. Choose Recalculate Quantities and Prices.

On saving, the page checks that unit of measure and SKU are filled in, that the marketplace item exists, that the unit of measure is set up for the item and that the SKU is free:

  • Within a marketplace, an SKU names exactly one item, variant and unit of measure. The same SKU may be used in several sales channels – Amazon lists one SKU on every country marketplace – as long as all of them sell the same thing.
  • No marketplace item may carry the SKU of an offer, otherwise orders could not tell the pack from the single piece.

Fields

Field Description
Marketplace Code Marketplace of the offer.
Sub-Account Code Sales channel of the marketplace, such as the Amazon marketplace of a country. Empty for a marketplace without sales channels.
Item No. / Variant Code Item and variant the pack contains.
Item Description Description of the item.
Unit of Measure Code Unit of measure of the pack. An order for this offer becomes a sales line in this unit.
Qty. per Unit of Measure How many base units the pack contains, from the units of measure of the item.
SKU SKU of the offer on the marketplace (see above).
EAN Bar code of the pack: the item reference of the type Bar Code in the pack's unit of measure, first for its variant, otherwise without a variant. Empty if there is none.
Safety Stock (Packs) How many packs are held back from the marketplace.
Max Quantity (Packs) At most this many packs are offered. 0 = no limit.
Marketplace Quantity Number of packs offered, see Quantity. Not editable.
Pack Discount % Discount on the single prices if the price list has no line in the pack's unit of measure, see Price.
Marketplace Price Price of one pack, see Price. Not editable.
Currency Code Currency of the price, the same as for the marketplace item. Hidden by default.
Price From Price List The price comes from a price list line in the pack's unit of measure. Otherwise it is calculated from the single price and the pack discount.
Price Error Why no price could be calculated for the pack. As long as it is filled in, the pack does not go to the marketplace with a price.

Quantity

Every pack counts on the full stock of the item:

  1. The hub calculates the available base quantity with the inventory formula and the settings of the marketplace item, see Inventory Calculation – only without its bundle content and maximum quantity; those describe the marketplace item's own offer.
  2. This quantity is divided by the Qty. per Unit of Measure and rounded down.
  3. The Safety Stock (Packs) is subtracted. If a Max Quantity (Packs) is set, the result is capped at it. It is never less than 0.

Example: 20 pieces available, 3-pack, safety stock 1 pack: 20 / 3 = 6 (rounded down), minus 1 = 5 packs.

Several packs, one stock

The single piece and every pack offer the same stock. If several packs sell at the same time, a pack can be oversold. A safety stock per pack holds packs back for this.

Price

  1. If the price list the marketplace item takes its price from has a line in the pack's unit of measure, that line is the price (Price From Price List). Such a line always takes precedence.
  2. Otherwise the pack costs the price of the marketplace item per base unit times the Qty. per Unit of Measure, less Pack Discount %. If the marketplace item is itself a bundle, its price is first divided by its bundle content. If it has no price but a business price – an item for business customers only –, the hub calculates with the business price.
  3. The price is rounded according to the currency of the marketplace item. Currency and VAT basis are those of the marketplace item.

Example: single price €10.00, 3-pack, pack discount 5%: 10.00 × 3 × 0.95 = €28.50.

There is a Price Error instead of a price if

  • the item has no marketplace item on this marketplace and sales channel,
  • the unit of measure is not set up for the item,
  • the price of the marketplace item is held back, e.g. by the price check: then the pack price is held back as well. The price check does not check a price list line of the pack on its own,
  • the price list has no line in the unit of measure and the marketplace item has no price to calculate the pack price from.

Recalculating and Sending

Recalculate Quantities and Prices recalculates the number of packs, the pack price and the bar code of the offers shown; the filters of the page apply. The message states how many offers changed.

The connector of a marketplace recalculates the same way before every upload. If the quantity or the price of an offer has changed, the hub marks it for sending; the connector removes the mark as soon as the marketplace has taken the value.

Orders

The order import looks for item, variant and unit of measure of every order line in this order:

  1. an offer with the SKU of the line – the pack in its unit of measure,
  2. a marketplace item with this SKU – the item in its sales unit,
  3. the item with the item number the connector delivers.

An offer whose item or unit of measure has been deleted since no longer matches any order line.

Amazon

The Amazon connector adds the Amazon side of the packs to the page. On Amazon, a pack is a product of its own: an SKU of its own and an ASIN different from the single item.

Field Description
ASIN ASIN of the pack on Amazon.
Amazon Product Type Amazon product type of the pack. Empty: that of the single item.
Listing Status Whether the pack is listed on Amazon. Only an active pack gets its price and quantity.
Fulfillment Channel Merchant (MFN): you ship yourself. Amazon (FBA): Amazon ships. The quantity is only sent for MFN.
Synced Inventory Qty Number of packs Amazon last accepted.
FBA Quantity Packs Amazon holds in its fulfillment centers and can sell right away.
FBA Reserved Qty, FBA Pending Order Qty, FBA Inbound Qty, FBA Unfulfillable Qty, FBA Researching Qty The rest of the pack's FBA inventory by kind, as on the Amazon Item Card. Hidden by default.
FNSKU Fulfillment Network SKU Amazon labels the pack with in its warehouses. Hidden by default.
Last Sync When Amazon last accepted price or quantity of the pack.
Amazon Error Why Amazon did not accept the last price or quantity of the pack. Until you choose Send Again, the pack is not sent again.
Action Description
Offer on Amazon Offers the selected pack on Amazon under its ASIN, with the price calculated now and – for MFN – the number of packs. SKU and ASIN must be filled in, the single item must already be listed on the marketplace, and the pack or the single item needs an Amazon product type. If Amazon accepts the offer, the pack gets the listing status Active.
Send Again Releases the selected packs Amazon refused: the next runs send price and quantity again. Choose it once the reason is fixed.

How packs are synchronized:

  • Price and inventory runs. Every price run and every inventory run of an Amazon marketplace lets the hub recalculate the packs of this marketplace. Then it sends, in a feed of its own, the packs whose price (price run) or quantity (inventory run) has changed – only packs with an ASIN and the listing status Active, without a pending feed and without an Amazon error; quantities only for MFN and with the handling time.
  • Consumers only. Packs go to Amazon as an offer for consumers; the quantity discounts and the business price of the single item do not apply to them. If the single item is offered to business customers only, the connector does not send the price of the pack.
  • Feed result. If Amazon accepts the values, the connector removes the marks and updates Synced Inventory Qty and Last Sync. If Amazon refuses them, the reason is in Amazon Error. If Amazon did not process the feed at all, the next run sends the packs again.
  • Existing listings. Import Existing Listings on the Amazon Dashboard creates or updates pack offers from existing Amazon listings. A listing counts as a pack if its SKU is that of an offer or if its product ID or SKU is a bar code of the item in a unit of measure other than the base unit – unless a marketplace item carries the SKU. ASIN, product type, fulfillment channel and listing status are taken over. If the single item is not listed, the pack is only counted.
  • FBA inventory. Sync FBA Inventory reads the FBA quantities of the packs by their SKU.
