Marketplace Attributes

Marketplaces want features for every item: colour, material, weight, brand. merchantCENTRAL always takes them from the item attributes of Business Central - the same values for every marketplace, maintained in one place, also filled by Product Enrichment (Icecat) or the AI. The connector only decides how the values look in the marketplace's format.

How it fits together

  1. Category: A marketplace expects different attributes per category. The category of a listing comes from its item category (Category Mapping), is inherited down the category tree and can be overridden on the listing.
  2. Mapping: Every attribute of the marketplace gets its value from an item attribute, an item field or a fixed value (Attribute Mappings). Only approved mappings take effect.
  3. Values: The values of the item are sent, for a variant its own. An attribute can have several values (Item Attribute Values).
  4. Language: A sales channel in another language gets the translation of the value - or the marketplace's own value from the Value Mappings. Without either, the attribute is not sent: no German in a French shop. Numbers, dates and attributes marked Language Neutral (brand, model) stay as they are.
  5. Check: If a mandatory attribute of the marketplace is missing, the listing is not sent. Your own required attributes per item category are set in the Attribute Rules. The Attributes FactBox shows the state of a listing, the Attribute Issues the state of all listings.

Who writes values?

Values come by hand, from Icecat through Product Enrichment, from the AI or from imports. A source overwrites only what a source of the same or a lower rank wrote: by hand before Icecat before the AI. A value you change on the item card stays as you entered it. The same holds for translations.
