Data Takeover

The Data Takeover page shows in one place the one-time steps that take over a channel which was already live before Business Central: products, their assignments and images, the order history – whatever the channel has. The steps run once per account, in the order listed. A channel that starts fresh does not need this page.

The hub collects the steps of all connectors and shows their order and status. What a step does and how far it has come is reported by the connector. A takeover is driven on the takeover page of the connector; the Data Takeover is the overview across all channels.

Opening the Page

  • Via search: Data Takeover (also Takeover, Migration, Onboarding, Historical Orders, Go-Live)
  • On the Marketplace Card → Data Takeover, filtered to that marketplace

Fields

The page shows one line per marketplace and step and is read-only. If there are no steps, a hint says that connectors with a takeover list their steps here.

Field Description
Marketplace Name Marketplace the step belongs to. Hidden when you opened the page from the marketplace card.
No. Position of the step in the order the connector requires.
Step Name of the step. Choosing it opens the takeover page of the connector.
Status Status the connector reports. Highlighted when the connector asks for attention, for example because a step it depends on has run since; green when the step has run through without an error before; grey otherwise. A step that never ran is the normal state of a channel without a takeover and is not highlighted.
Last Run When the step last ran through without an error. Blank if it never did.
Description What the step imports and what it replaces in Business Central.
Prerequisite Steps that have to run before this one, because it resolves their data.

Actions

Action Description
Refresh Collects the steps of all connectors again.
Open Opens the takeover page of the connector. There the step runs with its own options and for the scope you choose.
Run After a confirmation, runs the selected step for every enabled account of its connector, with its default options. Before that, the hub checks that the marketplace is enabled and licensed. Only steps that ask nothing run from here; for all others, the page tells you to run the step with Open on the connector page. Afterwards the page collects the steps again.

Amazon

The Amazon connector reports the eight steps of its Amazon Data Takeover (on the Amazon Administration page → Data Takeover). Every line opens that page.

No. Step With Run from here
1 Marketplaces and Cut-over Date –
2 Take Over Listings yes
3 Assign SKUs –
4 Take Over Open Orders yes
5 Review and Release –
6 FBA Opening Stock –
7 Order History yes
8 Images and Product Data yes

Status. Amazon appears here with one line per step. Its status sums up the marketplaces of the takeover: the marketplaces with a cut-over date – as long as none has one, all marketplaces the account takes part in.

Status Meaning
Not Started The step has not run on any marketplace.
In Progress Done on some of the marketplaces, or not finished yet. With several marketplaces, it reads x of y marketplaces.
Done Done on all marketplaces. Last Run is then the oldest of the marketplaces.
Outdated On at least one marketplace the step has to run again, for example because the cut-over date was changed or a step it depends on has run since. Highlighted.
Failed On at least one marketplace the last run failed. Highlighted.
Not Applicable Only FBA Opening Stock, as long as Enable FBA is off in the Amazon Settings. This step applies to the whole account, not per marketplace.

The Amazon Data Takeover shows the status of each marketplace and the reason.

Unattended. Run starts the four steps Take Over Listings, Take Over Open Orders, Order History and Images and Product Data for all marketplaces of the takeover and then shows the result. The other steps ask for something (cut-over date, assignment, release, posting) and run on the Amazon page only. The Order History needs an applied cut-over date that has begun and can take half an hour and more per marketplace; for that, the Amazon Data Takeover offers Run in Background. Migrate Historical Orders on the Marketplace Card of AMAZON starts the same step.

Permissions. Users without read permissions on the Amazon takeover see no Amazon lines here, but the steps of the other connectors – without an error.
