Amazon Catalog Search

Use the Catalog Search to browse the Amazon product catalog for existing products. Helpful for ASIN matching or to check whether a product already exists on Amazon.

Opening the Page

  • Via the Amazon Items list → Actions → Navigate → Search Amazon Catalog
  • Via the ASIN Search Queue → Search Amazon Catalog

The catalog search is the first step on the path List Offer (Existing ASIN): it finds the ASIN of an Amazon product that already exists, which you then assign to your item. If there is no match, the product probably does not exist on Amazon yet and must be created via the New Product Wizard (see Amazon Items).

Usage

  1. Enter a search term (product name, EAN, manufacturer part number).
  2. The results show matching Amazon products with ASIN, title, and product type.
  3. Select a result and assign the ASIN to your item via Match to Item. The message ASIN … matched to item … on marketplace … confirms the assignment.

The search runs on the marketplace in the Marketplace field, preset with the home marketplace or with the marketplace of the item from which you opened the search. If this marketplace has no marketplace participation with a Marketplace ID, the search and Search ASINs for Items... stop with the error Marketplace not set up; the error message opens the marketplace participations with Open Marketplace Participations.

Opened from "List on Amazon..."

If the catalog search was opened for a specific item via the guided entry List on Amazon..., that item is preset as the target item at the top (Assign to Item), and the search runs automatically – with the item's GTIN or, if it has none, with its manufacturer part number (Common Item No., search type Keywords). Right after Match to Item, the system then asks "Do you want to list an offer on Amazon now?" and, if you confirm, takes you straight to the offer dialog. If Amazon rejects the offer, the ASIN that was just assigned is kept; the Amazon Activity Log records the failure.

Search Tips

  • Search by EAN/GTIN for the most accurate results.
  • Use the Manufacturer Part Number (MPN) as an alternative.
  • Product names often return many results — be as specific as possible.

Actions

Action Description
Search Catalog Searches the Amazon catalog with Search Type and Search Value; the search also starts as soon as you enter a search value.
Match to Item Assigns the ASIN of the current line to an item – the preset target item (Assign to Item) or one that you choose from the item list – and takes over the product type. If the Amazon item does not exist on the marketplace yet, it is created. Waiting entries of the item in the Amazon ASIN Search Queue are then set to Ignored.
Search ASINs for Items... Opens the ASIN Search Filter and then searches for the ASINs of the items with a GTIN or manufacturer part number (Common Item No.) that have no ASIN on the selected marketplace, optionally only those of one item category or one vendor – first via the GTIN, then via the manufacturer part number. Items whose last search found nothing or failed wait until their retry date (7 days or 1 day). The matches go to the Amazon ASIN Search Queue for review; after that, the Amazon ASIN Search Results show the result.
Open in Amazon Opens the product page of the current line on Amazon.
Clear Results Clears the result list.
